How AI tool like ChatGPT Can Help You Learn English Grammar Easily

ChatGPT can give you all important rules of English grammar chapter by chapter along with examples at one place within a number of seconds. If you can provide it with prompts (instructions) that properly reflect what you actually want. Here are a number of ways you can utilize the capability of this revolutionary tool to learn English grammar.

Ask for Rules and Examples 

You may want to get a comprehensive review of the rules of English grammar  as a whole/ under a specific chapter along with examples. For example, if you want get a comprehensive discussion about all types of tenses including their definitions, corresponding sentence structures, and examples, you may use the following prompt. 

Example Prompt 1 Please provide a complete guideline on different tenses in English along with sentence structures under each of them and example sentences of each.

You may read the response generated by ChatGPT and learn proper usage of English. You may use prompts to get guidelines on other topics of English grammar e.g. voices, parts of speech, narration, 

Ask for practice problems and check answers

After reading the rules you must test yourself to strengthen your understanding of the rules. You may generate fill- in- the- blanks or multiple-choice-questions type practice problems by giving ChatGPT appropriate prompts.

For example, after studying all or some types of tenses by going through the response you got from Example Prompt 1, you may provide the following prompt to generate required number of fill-in-the-gaps type practice problems involving tenses.

Example Prompt 2 Provide twenty fill in the blanks like exercise sentences on different types of tenses of verbs. The blanks should be positioned in the place of verbs of those sentences. Do not mention the types of tenses of the sentences. Immediately after the blanks include the main verb in parentheses.

However, you may want more or less exercises and change the number mentioned in the above example prompt accordingly.

Finally after completing the exercise in your notebook, you may want get the right answer from ChatGPT itself to check whether your answer is correct. Also you may ask ChatGPT to explain the answers to gain clarity if you cannot understand the reason behind a specific answer. For answers to exercise sentences, you may use the following example prompt.

Example Prompt 3 Provide the correct answers to above exercise sentences and explain the answers.

However, your prompts should not necessarily be exactly the same as given in above examples. You may convey the same instruction to ChatGPT by writing prompts in your own way. ChatGPT adjusts its responses based on your previous responses in the same conversation. You should keep this in mind.
